Music

Hey, sorry I didn't get this up sooner, been a bit busy with other things. Anywho, I thought this show was pretty awesome. Apparently I was wrong in thinking War Of The Worlds started out as an lp when it was first made. It was, however, a film ages ago. Then it was made into the lp. Then we had the most recent film and finally hte musical show which i saw a few days ago.

The setup was a large (ish – prolly about 20-30piece) orchestra on one side of the stage with a band on the other side, which comprised of a couple of guitarists, a bassist (possibly 2) and a drummer or two (I couldn't really see them that well). The sound was great, big loud orchestra :D .

The musicians were sitton on the stage in front of a huge film screen which didn't appear to be projection to me so it was probably rear projection or something. But they used this to show film clips of the aliens walking around on mars and landing on Earth etc, but they didn't use it so much that the whole thing just became a film which was good. Also for certain scenes they had actors/actresses on stage acting out sections and singing etc.

The only downpoint I would say is that for a big musical show, it didn't feel all that much more special than just listening to it on cd, apart from the fact the music sounded better.

Also, on a quick note. I made this picture last night. I guess it is slightly relevant, almost looks like the Earth after the martians move in and all the red weed covers the Earth.

Please ask if you wish to use this photo. And thanks to ROSIE for the stock photo :) .

Ok partly because I am bored and partly for a few other obviously very intelligent reasons which for some other very intelligent reason I can't think of right now, I've decided to make a blog where once a day (ish) I will update it with a new band I've listened to or whatever, some examples of song titles, what sorta music it is etc. I will stick a link to my new blog on this one asap.

Hey just a quick post partly because I haven’t put anything new on here for a while but also just to give my band a quick shameless plug. Have a look at Incognito’s myspace by clicking HERE

Theres a couple of tracks on there that we recorded last year on a really bad quality setup, but there will be new tracks on there within the next couple of weeks, so keep checking back.

So, feeling quite a lot better I decided to go see the above two bands at the Camden Koko last night. Powerquest were up first and I have to say, theyre an awesome band, the singer was dressed rather out of place which looked cool lol. White and gold italian style shirt and black patterned trousers that were all swirly. Short styled hair, everyone else dressed in black with hair past their shoulders :D Anyway I thought they played great, the sound levels for the vocals were a bit off but they were like that all night. Helloween were after, they were alright, not my favourite band but they seemed to play well. They had a damn cool drum solo with double bass going fast pretty much nonstop throughout it for a good 7 mins at least lol. They played mr torture and if i could fly which I like but other than that it was just a bit average. They were a cool band and showy but something didnt quite make it for me. Partle the fat old german men in the crowd that didnt have the power metal spirit in them, they just had to do everything they could to get theyre photos, which were very crap anyway lol. So just before the encores I went and got myself a drink and went up on the balcony for a bit, the koko is a cool venue like that. Then went and hung around the bar for a bit until the gig finished. Not a bad night overall though.

My mate Sam liked it more than me, read it about here on his blog.

Friday Feb 3rd, what a night! Saw Dragonforce headline the London Astoria in Tottenham Court Road, Central London. They were amazing. The first band on was ok, Sabaton, they only had a 15min set, the fitted in 3 songs and they were average, but then theres only so much you can do in 15mins really.

Edguy were up second and they were quite good, damn good showmanship lol, the music was quite good. Then Dragonforce were amazing, put on a totally awesome show for like an hour and a half or something. The keyboard solo was great but no drum solo yet again!!! Oh well. I did take photos but I haven’t been able to get them on the pc yet but I will eventually and will stick the best on here.

Totally amazing band, both live and recorded.

On 9th January 2006 they released their third album, titled Inhuman rampage, which is now 43rd in the Amazon.Co.Uk’s top100 selling albums, the album at 45th is Robbie Williams’ Greatest Hits, ha, lol.

Last year Dragonforce pretty much sold out 3 consecutive Thursdays at the Camden Barfly, London, even though their support act was terrible and everyone knew they would be terrible.

On 3rd February 2006, Dragonforce are playing at the London Astoria, which is a 1200 capacity venue, this gig has already sold out. And they are being supported by Edguy, a very reputable central European Power Metal band.
A band which constantly goes from strength to strength, Dragonforce just keep on getting bigger and bigger.

(Oh and I’d just like to point out that I have a ticket for their Astoria show in February :P )
